2025 Franklin B. Walter Award

Each year, Ohio’s Educational Service Center Association (OESCA) shines a spotlight on the brightest and most dedicated high school seniors from every county in Ohio. This year, we are proud to recognize four exceptional students from the Southern Ohio ESC service region who have earned the prestigious Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for their academic achievement, leadership, and service to their communities.

Named in honor of Dr. Franklin B. Walter—Ohio’s 31st State Superintendent of Public Instruction who served from 1977 to 1991—this award celebrates a legacy of educational excellence and equity. Dr. Walter dedicated his life to improving education in Ohio, and this recognition continues to reflect his commitment to young people across the state.

These students will be honored during the annual Franklin B. Walter Awards Program, held on April 14, 2025, at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel. This statewide celebration acknowledges one student from each of Ohio’s 88 counties and recognizes more than just grades—it’s about commitment, perseverance, and the impact these young leaders have on their schools and communities.

“In order to achieve this level of success, these students have demonstrated a commitment to excellence, resilience, and grit,” said OESCA Executive Director Craig Burford.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Alanna, Caden, Emmarson, and Reagan. Your accomplishments are a testament to your hard work and a promising glimpse of the future of leadership in Southern Ohio.
